I would ghost. (though first I would energetically resent it!) The lack of commonsense or respect indicates they don't even deserve the courtesy of a reply.

Same! I had no idea. But I suppose it makes sense in retrospect given how often that method fails. (says someone who grew up in an entire country for which that was all we had into the 1990s)
