Do what I can to change academia from the inside, earth scientist working on Arctic coastal environmental change and palaeoclimate. HoD and assoc.prof. at Unis- Svalbard. Parent. Equity, diversity and decolonize science. Every day is a new balancing act.
It went so well. Amazing students explaining how they’ve been involved in the research project on palaeoclimate data from coal through their BSc course at #UniSvalbard this spring to the King and Queen of Norway. And we ended the day with a reception at the Royal yacht!

Ready for the king of Norway. Two students will present our work on coal as a palaeoclimate archive to the King today.

Summer in the Arctic. And delicious cake from a student, who finished her internship on the carbon cycle in an arctic delta with me.

Coal mining was the heart and soul of Longyearbyen and now it’s coming to an end. The last mine closes in a couple of weeks. But my daughter got to perform at the open day yesterday for people from town for a last visit to the mine #gruve7remix

Outreach projects as part of the assessment for the course “Arctic climate change - from the past to the future” at #UnisSvalbard. What a day. I’ve rarely had so much fun in an exam situation. For example this movie created by students. youtu.be/GBITtLhvQwc?...

Lucky me, who’s one of the scientist protagonists in an amazing childrens book about research in the Arctic. Yesterday we celebrated the first books coming from printing with author Maria Rossi.

Tomorrow I’ll present our new coastal landform dataset from Svalbard at #EGU25 in session OS2.4, room 1.61/1.62, 14-15:45.
We have mapped out the entire coastline of the Svalbard archipelago in 1:30.000 and it’s openly available here: doi.pangaea.de/10.1594/PANG...

I’m mostly at loss for words lately with the state of the world. But can offer a timeline cleanse of northern lights from my dog walk yesterday evening.

We’re in the local news today with a feature article explaining how we use the Palaeogene coal seams in Svalbard as a high resolution palaeoclimate archive.

It’s been a lovely and calm break with family. And now after a lot of rain, it’s suddenly sunshine here in DK. Must be a good sign for this first day of easing back into work.

I love seeing so many new people here. I miss the supportive atmosphere of old Twitter, that made a huge difference for my networking and feeling of being included in science. Hope to recreate that here. A few facts about me:
I live in the Arctic, but don’t like to be cold. I love new technology 1/2
