A reminder that ICE hasn’t slowed down in Minneapolis at all.

Outside of Minnesota, it might feel like everything has changed since Alex Pretti’s murder. But ICE hasn’t actually lost any power and they’re continuing to terrorize our communities.

SHUT THE GOVERNMENT DOWN!

Do not fund the government until a full investigation is performed for Renee Good and Alex Pretti. The agents responsible for their execution must be removed from duty and put on trial.

The American people demand accountability and an end to ICE & DHS brutality!!!

After just a few short weeks, our effort to impeach Kristi Noem is already close to success. You did that.

Now let’s keep up the pressure. Tell loser Mike Johnson and the rest of the cowards in Congress we’re not stopping until they finish the job:

SCOOP: ICE Has Failed to Disclose Info About 8 Immigrants’ Deaths, Defying Congress
Trump has ICE detaining more people than ever. The agency keeps failing to report information about immigrants’ deaths in its custody.

People have had to sacrifice every aspect of their stability to hide from ICE. They lost jobs. They closed businesses. They used up every last bit of their savings—if they had any to begin with. And some people were taken anyway.

If ICE leaves tomorrow, there will still be communities in crisis.

#GVerse Chicago turnout this morning was INSANE.

Thousands hit the streets demanding justice for Alex Pretti and calling out the federal crackdown that killed him.

This isn’t “local unrest” anymore. It’s national.

So keep pushing. Anything short of ICE’s abolition isn’t nearly enough.

And I’d say that even ICE’s abolition should only be the start of ending the violence that came to feel “normal” under Trump.

The biggest risk in this moment is something sociologists call “symbolic compliance.”

That’s when an institution that is violating civil rights gives the public just enough symbolic victories that accountability efforts lose steam before there has been any meaningful change.

The people of Minnesota have executed one of the most impressive civil resistance campaigns I can remember:

- Organized a city wide general strike
- Maintained nonviolent discipline amidst violence
- Mobilized 10,000s in subzero temps to protest and watch ICE
- Flipped public opinion against ICE

The playbook that worked in Minneapolis simply won’t work in Maine.

Communities are small, rural, spread out and homes are mostly isolated unless they are right downtown.

We are going to need different strategies for rural states. Any ideas?
