Here to make friends, talk about writing, and follow the tenuous fate of our democracy.
All I think with every measles headline is: Babies can’t be vaccinated until a year and Americans routinely have to send kids to daycare before babies are even 2 months old.

The true horror of Black Mirror is the lack of government oversight over the tech.

GOVERNMENT IS GOOD, ACTUALLY. If I were a Dem that’s all I’d be running on. Not perfect and always needs to be improved but overall it is US and it is GOOD and the ones convincing you it’s bad are the ones who want to privatize it (and take it away from US).
It works. The government here largely works. Because we are so spoiled by how well it works, we are letting a fool convince us it is broken.
In 90 years of social security, we have never had a check bounce or be late, but they want you to believe the system is broken.

Not one of my reps has even said Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s name in public in case you’re wondering why I’m losing my mind today. We’re in full authoritarianism with a president that is defying the Supreme Court and wishfully dreaming of sending citizens to death prisons and they are SILENT.

What IS GOING WRONG RIGHT NOW: Dems failing to call for his immediate resignation or firing and instead posting little quips on the internet as if you’re not members of (what should be!!!!) a powerful co-equal branch of government.

Listening to bootleg versions of Taylor Swift mashups and my favorite thing is the crowd freaking out/singing along/having the best time ever. The Eras Tour was literally the most fun.

@amyklobuchar.com Your vote is NO. There is no world in which you give Trump and Musk everything they want now but somehow they’ll come back to the table in a year. It’s embarrassing that @schumer.senate.gov is so easily scammed. Don’t fall for it. Your constituents except you to have a spine. NO.

@smith.senate.gov Hi Senator! Your voicemail is full so here’s a Bluesky reminder: The answer is NO. We do not vote for a fascist party’s bill to consolidate CONGRESSIONAL power in the hands of an unelected and unaccountable billionaire and that offered no compromise or consideration to Democrats.

Rerelease the iPod Nano, rebrand it as iSongs “The only device just for listening” and soooo many people would buy it for the gym, walks, KIDS. Give it a long battery and control over a playlist in an app. Viola! $$!
had a thought that if apple were to release a traditional ipod it would sell like hotcakes

Just thinking, today, about how The Chicks got death threats just for being embarrassed of Bush and instead of acquiescing to terroristic bullshit they doubled-down and kept going. Gonna need someone to start blasting “Not Ready to Make Nice” all around DC right about now.

This is just to say

I have fired
the bureaucrats
throughout
your government

Even the ones
that were probably
keeping planes
in the air

Forgive me
I am not very smart
So efficiency
Much savings

It is a challenging time to be teaching research writing to my students who come from high school classrooms where they were taught to trust .gov websites.

Hiiii friends! I used @kawamataryo.bsky.social Sky Follower Bridge and found all my previous Twitter favorites and honestly it feels like moving back into a beloved neighborhood I had to leave (because Musk ruined it). Thank you all for being here. It’s nice to see you, again. 👋
