She's hunting motes. And dandelion seeds... such a fearless hunter...
On the vast grassy plain, proud, noble Kali pauses, her paunch gently wobbling in the breeze. Should she relentlessly hunt the motes drifting in late afternoon sun? Should she stalk a bee?

High in the old mirabelle tree, the fearsome Kali takes a break from relentless tummy tickles to roleplay a lean and hungry panther. With limited success.

Deep in the jungle, supposed predator Kali lurks adorably in a dense thicket of Geranium Phaeum. Small insects saunter gently away in slight trepidation.

Exciting times last week as we bought a (bit of the) field next door. Granted, professional farmers may see ~0.9 acres as more of a field-margin than a field! But for us, expanding our cottage smallholding to ~1.6 acres is big news. Or should that be "pig" news? Maybe once it's fenced... 👷🧑‍🌾😁🐷

Our ducks having their first snow day! Significantly more enthusiastic about it than the chickens!
1ºC and snow is a new experience this morning for the multiduck. They are a little uncertain about the slightly slushy top to the pond (which is trying to work out if it wants to freeze). But otherwise, they are enjoying running around fossicking in the snow. 🦆❄️

To the several Labour MPs on here who follow me or see this, maybe it's time to ask the Government departments to set up here and at least operate parallel handles, if not finally switch. [the instant they do all the journalists that cover their day to day activities will come too].

I can completely understand why growing your own low-cost vegetables such as carrots, potatoes, courgettes, onions and garlic is of no interest to many people.

But if cooking the first soup of the autumn having grown everything in the pan makes you happy, then why not?!

(I did. It does.) 🍂🌱🍽🍜

I love this! Advice from over 60 years ago still highly relevant (although I imagine fewer people finding typewriters are ruining their writing these days)
C.S. Lewis' advice to a young writer.

Definitely didn't weed some of the beds last night and take out an artichoke assuming it was a thistle... cue me jumping in the compost bin to recover it and @smallholderific.bsky.social replanting... will update on its health later on the week 😬
