Writer of the book THE FIGHT FOR SEX ED, out now from Beacon Press. Advocate for comprehensive sex education. Also here: cats, the ocean, thoughts about running a preschool on an island in Maine (another thing I do).
It’s only inevitable that the reign of the titanic would come to an end. Welcome to the stage, the Edmund Fitzgerald. Millions of schoolchildren are about to become obsessed with you.

Fresh from my post office box to my local cafe for an initial look-through: Margaret Grace Myers' new "The Fight for Sex Ed" (@beaconpress.bsky.social). I'm very keen to settle in and begin making review notes about it.

Hat tip to @justinlehmiller.bsky.social for making me aware of it. 🎩

I never took anatomy in college but I’m still pretty good like I know the ACL is the body part men blame on not having a professional sports career.

Reminds me of my other favorite Mary Oliver poem, which I believe begins: “You do not have to be good/to be on “Jenna and Friends” with wife Jenna Bush Hager.

Every community has a unique way of accepting newcomers. Last week, on a rainy day, the proprietor of the store, who also delivers the non-USPS packages, was dropping things off for work. Then, he asked me if I wanted him to put MY packages In my car so they wouldn’t sit on my porch in the rain. 😭

But that means that now, BSB could be lurking anywhere, around any corner, waiting to attack.

This Black History Month, I've been reflecting on the many Black leaders in the fight for sex ed. I was especially taken by the story of Louisiana State Representative Alphonse Jackson, who introduced legislation for 5 consecutive years to repeal the ban on sex ed in his state.

Living on an island is great if you want to bring back some of that “working parents trying to coordinate picking you up from an afterschool event during middle school” vibe that we all miss so much as adults.

A child at baby school told me that Li Shang from Mulan was braver than me and she did not think it was charming when I asked if her Li Shang had ever spoken honestly and openly about his feelings even when it was hard, which is the bravest thing I can think of.
