I always say you should judge a society on how it treats its most vulnerable.
I had to see this with my own eyes to believe it.
Tweet 1: most welfare payments are to the elderly, sick and disabled, not the unemployed.
Tweet 2: (right after) freeze these and spend the money on military and defence

I saw this sign in the distance on my walk on the Dublin Road tonight and was interested to see what it was advertising.
Parking spaces. 9,000 parking spaces.
Is that the best Limerick has to offer people? We really needed to remove those parklets to add a few more 🫤

I've added the tiles I made in this year's ceramics class to the collection on the wall by my patio door. It adds a lovely splash of colour. Every one started out as a chunk of wet clay that I imagined and worked into a finished piece, which is very satisfying. Crafty evening classes are the best.

I'm very sad to see Silke's in Limerick is closing. That back room of theirs is an Aladdin's cave of crafty bits and bobs. I love wandering through it.

The councillors are getting a briefing about the Parklets this week, behind closed doors.

The before photos with the marks on wet clay are quite beautiful too.

My first batch of fired and glazed ceramics from this year's evening class are all imprints of plants and seeds, most to decorate a grey concrete wall at my back door. Crafty evening classes are the best fun, a brilliant way to clear the head and make nice things at the same time.

Limerick's Theatre Royal closed the year after I came here so this institution everyone grew up with has always been a mystery to me. It was great to finally get a look inside while at this truly immersive theatre that brought an old star of the former cinema home

Limerick, the amazing The Breath, with Ríoghnach Connolly and
Stuart McCallum, are coming to visit us again this Wednesday.
A night with them is one of the most healing, uplifting, entertaining experiences you can have.

Spent my Saturday night with Bea Brennan and Minced Oath in @ormstonhouse.com art gallery in Limerick. I love gigs in alternative, non-pub venues.
I've never seen someone play faders like they were an instrument the way he did. Loved their set.

I went to see some Shakespeare at The Globe in London a couple of weeks ago and it took me ages to figure out why this actor was so familiar...

I haven't seen Beth Orton in at least 25 years, not since the Central Reservation days, so this was a nice surprise this morning. Got my pre-sale ticket already. Sign up to

Mongolian horse-hair fiddle playing and throat singing at a free concert in #LimerickCity of a bank holiday Saturday night.
Where else would you get it?

Enjoy. I'm at St John's Pavilion, which seems very Limerick (it's my first time ever). The Mongolian horse hair fiddle and throat singing, not so much.

Not Castletroy for a change on this Sunday afternoon!

Dropped my bag at my city centre hotel and went art gallerying straight away.

One of the best things about Eva in Limerick has always been getting access to places in the city you wouldn't otherwise. Lumen Street Theatre's old warehouse off Roches Street is a stunning space.

I couldn't wait for the morning light to show off my extended @eolai.bsky.social wall, which has now taken in the hotpress door. I put them here so they'll catch my eye every time I go up and down the stairs. These colours and landscapes do something to me that I haven't yet figured out

I came home to Offaly to two deliveries of
@eolai.bsky.social's stunning work: a collection of postcards and an original painting. Can't wait to find frames and home for these around the house. I've already got a Liam wall and stickers on the fridge.

I'm home in Offaly for the weekend and this young buck has appeared on the permanent altar in the sitting room. I did an image search and saw him described as the first millennial saint. They exhumed his body to put it on permanent display. Mad stuff.

The #GlobalSumudFlotilla on its way to Gaza is an incredible sight. Hopeful, inspiring and terrifying for what might come in equal measure. Israel has killed people on similar flotilla in international waters before. The Spectre is @sarahmaintains.bsky.social and Chris Andrews' boat. Amazing people.

Loved The Wedding Present in Dolans tonight even though I didn't know their music. It was one of those special shows. Rachael Wood is the coolest guitar player I've seen in some time
