How bad will it be? Catastrophic.

Proposed cuts to #NSF, #NIH, and #NASA will set the US R&D landscape back 25 yrs+, cause economic and job loss now, and undermine innovations to come.

But, this is the WH's *proposed* budget.

Speak up now before it is too late.

Trump has gutted food inspection programs at the FDA and USDA — including the committee that investigated last year's fatal Boar's Head listeria outbreak.

The USDA is also rolling back safety regulations to “streamline” meat processing.

How is this Making America Healthy Again?

10,000 Health and Human Services employees are being laid off.

These are the people who track diseases, conduct research, make sure our food and medicine is safe, and administer health insurance for nearly half the country.

Tell me how this will "make America healthy again."
Mass layoffs are underway at the nation's public health agencies
Employees across the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services have begun receiving notices of dismissal in a major overhaul expected to ultimately lay off up to 10,000 people.

This is what true leadership looks like. Let’s have the courage to live up to the moral convictions of our mayor & protect the immigrants in our community. Well done @mayordeegan.bsky.social
To every immigrant living in Jacksonville, whether you’ve been here for decades or just arrived, I want you to hear this from your Mayor: You belong. You matter. You are loved. And we will continue to stand with you.

It's not a bad idea to go to the local Walmart or big box retailer and buy lots of consumables now. From toothpaste to soap, anything you can find storage space for, buy before they have to replenish inventory.

Even if it's made in the USA , they will jack up the price and blame it on tariffs.

So, this is Sigmops elongatus or the elongated fangjaw. They are a type of bristlemouth which is the most abundant group of fishes on Earth. These guys live at depths of up to 1500m but come up to the surface at night to feed. They get around 20 cm or so and primarily feed on small crustaceans.

Anyways, searching for motivation I stumbled upon some pics I took of the deep-pelagic fish I worked with during my masters and thought I’d shed some light on some of my favorites since my fascination with them is what inspired me to study the deep-sea

This week I got the awful news that so many grad students have faced—the project I came in to work on as a PhD student was terminated due to gov’t budget cuts. I’m very fortunate to still have support from my lab and department, but the news has made “sciencing” particularly tough lately

Hi everyone! I’m Ian, a PhD student at Florida International University. My current research focuses on the abundance and distribution patterns of deep-pelagic organisms. Follow along if you would like to keep up with my research or learn a bit more about the deep-sea and its wacky inhabitants.
