Day 3.
8 hours on location today at 2 sites.
5 hour drive west back to base now for time with family (it’s a combined work & family road trip after all) before we all drive back on the same road to where I am now on Wednesday:)

In place for early start tomorrow for 2nd site of the trip.
Time to back up work made today, clean sensor, charge batteries, eat leftover lunch and (unfortunately) dry socks...my boots are, it seems, very much not usefully waterproof.

BTS from 1st day on location in Germany.
After 15 hours on the road yesterday, it’s 3 hours today to 1st site.
Now scanning weather apps to choose where I go next.
3 hr drive east then 5 hour drive back west?
5 hour drive south then 5 hour drive back north?

The night before, with our friends and their children, we had sat under the peaceful sky, sharing food and watching the meteor shower in the dark night above the village.
Three years on and they still watch the same sky at night, but now for the drones and missiles sent to destroy them.

In just 2 days in September 1941, 33,771 Jews were massacred at Babi Yar ravine. Between 100,000 & 150,000 Jews, Roma, Ukrainian resistance & Soviet prisoners of war were murdered at the ravine from 1941 to 1943.

Prisoners from Mauthausen were forced to jump from this cliff to their death, It was known by camp guards as the ‘parachute jump’.

Research locations for new work.
Prep 10 day road trip to Germany for work & family.
Day & half commercial jobs.
Mentoring session.
Drive to Germany.

Another 30 books out of the door and shipping today.
That is now over half the Kickstarter rewards fulfilled.
Next week all the books heading outside of UK will be packed and shipped, as well as all books with prints.
About another 100 to go in total.

Details are very important to the design and construction of a photobook.
For The Edge of Ruin and the Swiss binding cloth, myself and designer @wayneford.co.uk chose a Wicotex Brillianta cloth from Winter & Company, whom have been making materials since 1892.

Tunnels at Ebensee, a sub camp of Mauthausen concentration camp.
Prisoners were used as slave labour for the production of rockets. Working in underground tunnels, nearly a third of prisoners died here.

Like many of my books, the locations in The Edge of Ruin are researched in detail for the book.

Morning all.
2 days of commercial photoshoots to process & then back to packing & sending more copies of the new book from the Kickstarter.
56 copies are due for delivery today / tomorrow & aiming to pack 60 more books today.
It's a slow and methodical process.
