Absolutely love this pic my friend Wendy got of the very careful avoidance of Taylor Swift's trademarks on a coloring book.
Really loving this #TaylorSwift coloring book. Also loving how careful they were to write around trademarks.

If you want to know to what extent kids can mess up your mind, I just helped one poop liquid into a cup and then portion out the poop - which smells like a hog manure lagoon, btw - into MULTIPLE specimen containers and I’m pretty sure I don’t even get paid for this.

We watched the political action thriller "Monkey Man" last night. I quite enjoyed it, though it threw into sharp relief how Online I am: I am a middle aged white dude and I followed almost all of the references to the BJP and Indian politics, and my wife didn't even realize they *were* references.

This is amazing.
Someone named Spud Klingbeil did this and I have so much respect and envy

As noted this sounds silly but is a HUGE win for small businesses and others in similar positions.
HUGE win.

Seriously. Far larger than you'd think.

I really like this song, but I think my favorite part of the video is how this *adorable* little purple-haired waif opens her mouth and that rich, absolutely *sultry* voice comes flowing out.

Well for once that leaves ME out, which is a relief.
anyone with parents they don't hate should welcome this. anyone who intends to live into old age and doesnt hate themselves should also welcome this.

We came into a little extra money and I bought us a new theater-seating loveseat for the living room and good lord and butter, this is amazing. Nicest furniture we’ve ever had. And SOLID. I am a big fellow and I sit and it’s just there.

Rebroadcasting.
Trans folks (especially those who have transitioned in your 30s or later)—I’m looking for advice on how to best support a friend who is transitioning and it’s unleashing some heavy emotions. I’m trying to be a supportive ear, but is there anything else I should be thinking of/being proactive about?

USPTO: Hey, important news!
Me: Yeah?
USPTO: Remember that one client you decided was too iffy?
Me: Yeah.
USPTO: Good call. You avoided a truly gigantic OED investigation.
Me: Thanks?

Rabies is one of most miserable deaths known to humankind. It is not worth any risk. GET THE SHOTS.
If you ever discover a bat in your house, GET THE RABIES SHOTS AS SOON AS YOU CAN. The "oh, they're super painful shots in the stomach" thing is not true anymore! They are normal regular shots and they will stop you from dying miserably if the bat bit you in your sleep and you didn't notice!
"Bats have tiny teeth so a bite mark may not appear, according to the Department of Environment, Health and Safety at the University of Michigan. Sometimes victims don’t even feel themselves being bit."

If you see this, post a vampire 🦇

This image is called "Thicks Man's Blood:"

Her lips were red, her looks were free,
Her locks were yellow as gold:
Her skin was as white as leprosy,
The nightmare LIFE-IN-DEATH was she,
Who thicks man's blood with cold.

WE DESPERATELY NEED A FEDERAL RIGHT OF PUBLICITY LAW TO DISTINGUISH THE RIGHT OF PUBLICITY FROM COPYRIGHT BECAUSE THEY HAVE NOTHING TO WITH EACH OTHER AND IT SHOULD BE VERY BROAD AGAINST ANY NON-REPORTING COMMERCIAL USAGE WHATSOEVER.
LAWSKY, GIMME YOUR ALL-CAPS LEGAL HOT TAKE

I'LL START: WARHOL WAS NOT BAD, ACTUALLY, BECAUSE IT MORE CLOSELY ALIGNED FAIR USE ANALYSIS WITH ENTIRELY REASONABLE POPULAR BELIEFS ABOUT COPYRIGHT LAW
ACTUALLY THE FAILURE IS NOT CORPORATE LAW (DELAWARE LAW) BUT SECURITIES LAW WHICH CREATED MODERN VENTURE CAPITAL - THOSE FREAKIN' FUNDS WOULDN'T EXIST IF NOT FOR LOOSENING OF THE SECURITIES LAWS IN 1996 I WILL DIE ON THIS HILL

Meredith and I differ on some things - I am more conservative than her about some aspects of copyright law. But I share this opinion unreservedly. Also, she is very brilliant, so really my only advantage over her is experience and guile. Caveat lector.
Behold, my least popular opinion (among people who are not actually copyright specialists)
I worry that a lot of the legal reasoning around copyright and AI is working backward from a desired outcome. “Well *something* in the chain of operations must be copyright infringement” is how we got Aereo.
