It’s been a while… How is everyone?

Just thought I would post a wee summary of the March International HR Forum sesh we had.

A huge THANK YOU to Jo Taylor from Let's Talk Talent for anchoring the International HR Forum's March meeting, which was something of a masterclass around all things organisational development...

Spot on.

And with Trump about to invade Greenland, annex the Panama Canal and rename the Gulf of Mexico, we should in particular keep him (and Musk) away from UK politics generally.
We can't let British democracy turn into a plaything for overseas billionaires with short attention spans.

At PMQs, I urged the Prime Minister to work with us to make sure power always sits with the voters, not wealthy foreign oligarchs.

One of my Covid projects was to undertake the ILM7 certification in Executive Coaching.

Many moons, one assignment, 3 guinea-pigs and an enormous portfolio of evidence later, I can now confirm that I am now an accredited executive coach!

So, #hrcommunity, what are your priorities for 2025?

Putting to one side the big ticket items (AI, hybrid working, the employment rights bill, etc) my priority is to support our people amid uncertainty prompted by us being acquired.

Some things are more closer to home than the big ticket stuff.

Yup… Precisely.

Time to rip up the NRA playbook of “thoughts and prayers” and “it’s mental health issues, not issues with guns”.

Time to repeal the second amendment.

I guess it’s not as newsworthy to flip the stats around and say that 2 out of 3 say the response to Covid was proportionate, and 5 out of 6 said they didn’t regret getting vaccinated…

The power of language.
In other words, a supermajority of two thirds do not say Covid-19 response was overblown.

The role of media ladies and gentlemen.

A must-read for those in the corporate world looking to transition to running their own business.

A clear vision and reminders of why you decided to go down this path will counter any of the doubts that will naturally occur, particularly in the early days…

A subject close to my heart, and if it’s anywhere near as good as Gary’s first book then it’s a “must have” read not just for HR peeps but leaders generally.

Making Hybrid Working Work (out 3 January but pre-order from the link in the comments) addresses not just how people work but why they work, how work aligns with purpose, and how some wider trends (like AI, and the reducing working week) are... 1/

As companies continue to grapple with remote first, office first, hybrid, etc. what are the considerations for leaders?

Here’s a little something I pulled together after the last International HR Forum get-together.

Remember walking around the first skyscraper that was built by Olympia & York thinking “whatever are they thinking…it will never catch on”. Sure they went under, but it caught on, and shows how little I know about commercial real estate!

Darn impressive comparative view though, eh?
