Wer das zu grausam oder unpassend findet, sollte sich die Frage stellen, warum priviligierte deutsche Staatsbürger mehr Recht auf das Zusammenleben in der Familie haben sollten, als Menschen, die vor einen Krieg geflohen sind. 2/3

This makes me as angry as it makes me desperate. These people are no different to us, they have just been less fortunate so far. We must never forget that. 6/6

And only possible because far too little is reported about it. Or because political parties and the media (not all of them) dehumanise refugees/migrants and frame them as a danger or a burden, as illegal objects without any rights. 5/6

However, the number of refugees is still more than 120 million. People will suffer even more, die from lack of medicine or lack of care, or have no choice but to take ever more dangerous routes in the hope of not being pushed to their deaths by EU-sponsored thugs. This is all by design. 4/6

2025 marks a disruptive moment, especially in the US&Germany, that is seriously damaging the refugee regime. People seeking protection worldwide will receive less food and medicine, programmes for protection against violence will be dismantled. UNHCR has to cut a third of its staff. 3/6

And nobody seems to worry how all these restrictions & acts of desolidarisation add up. But it is not a difficult calculation. The global refugee regime has always been precarious, underfunded, etc. We have been seeing a process of erosion for years, while the number of refugees has been rising. 2/6
