For all of those who think that violence is a justifiable response to what's happening in the U.S. today, here's a reminder that non-violent protest is still the most affective resistance to injustice and tyranny:

The '3.5% rule': How a small minority can change the world
Nonviolent protests are twice as likely to succeed as armed conflicts – and those engaging a threshold of 3.5% of the population have never failed to bring about change.

Political violence is evil. I don't care how angry you are at your opponents. We have a ballot box. We have courts. We have free speech. I'm sick with grief for Charlie and his family. I'm sick with concern for this country.
Breaking news: Conservative activist Charlie Kirk has died at the age of 31, President Trump says.

Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, was fatally shot while speaking at an event at Utah Valley University.

I'm sick after seeing the video of Charlie Kirk being shot.

Violence against civilians is never okay. Political violence — no matter who is hurt — will always beget worse political violence. And it has no place in our country.

Today’s act of political violence in Utah against Charlie Kirk is absolutely disgusting and unacceptable.

We don’t have to agree on everything, but we should all agree on this: political violence is wrong, and has no place in our democracy

This is absolutely counterproductive. Teens need to have outlets in times of crisis that do not require parental consent.

A suicide hotline should absolutely be one of them!
Teens calling Idaho's suicide hotline are being told they can't proceed with the conversation without parental consent. Many of the callers are then hanging up.

Idaho approved a strict parental consent law last year.

Really important. So many people die needlessly every year in the water. Please share.
Thanks for the reminder @janemunday.bsky.social. Every summer, I repost this article DROWNING DOES NOT LOOK LIKE DROWNING. To date, I know of FOUR kids who were saved after someone who'd clicked on the link learnt how to spot actual drowning. Take time to read and pass on.

This is an absolute betrayal of promises made by Congress to protect the people who protected American soldiers. A betrayal by people who think American greatness is based on half-assed military parades rather than being a credible ally to those that risked their lives for America.
An Afghan man who worked as a translator for the U.S. military during the war was detained by ICE after showing up for a hearing inside of a federal courthouse in San Diego, his attorney says. He fears that if he returns to Afghanistan, he would be tortured or even killed, @nbcsandiego.com reports.

Cato has published my comprehensive review of the ~240 Venezuelans the US government renditioned 2 months ago to Salvador’s notorious prison. We identified FIFTY who came legally, never violated any immigration law, but are imprisoned at the US government’s request and at US taxpayer expense.

About 80% of those at risk of deportation from the US are Christians (10 million) – 61% Catholic & 13% Evangelical.

With no change in US law, one out of every 12 Christians are vulnerable to deportation or could lose at least one family member to deportation.

Call your Reps & Senators on Tuesday. Tell them your views on the President acting lawlessly to thwart appropriations passed by Congress.

Call them: 202-224-3121
Unconstitutional. Appropriations bills are laws. If the president is not bound by them, he can make laws by fiat and is acting like a dictator. No Democrat can vote for any appropriations or debt ceiling bill while this is happening.

The consequences of disinformation are real. Please talk to your family physician if you are even considering not getting your children their routine vaccinations!
Dr. Paul Offit from last week's Roundtable on Vaccines:

"The problem is not only that we've largely eliminated these diseases...we've eliminated the memory of these diseases. Parents are now more scared of the safety of vaccines, real or imagined, then the diseases they prevent."
