After two seasons and many difficulties, he decided to go back to China. In 1997 he played some short-formats tournaments in his native country, were snooker was starting its development. He was able to beat Ken Doherty and his idol Stephen Hendry, making also a century break.

Famously, Joe Davis overtook him just a few weeks later with a 146. Chenier, who sadly passed away in 1970, would end his career making a 147, becoming one of the first prominent figures in Canadian snooker.

Eugenio worked so hard in the last few years and was never able to replicate in tournaments the level he is capable of in practice.

Will be good see him at the EBSA European Championship in 2026!

41 years old now. In 2019 he was supposed to play in the World Open as a wildcard, but he decided to decline, offering it to his protégé Gao Yang. Played few times in the Chinese circuits, but without much continuity.

First amateur to won a minor ranking title. Still active as a snooker coach (Gao Yang is one his players), played some Chinese tournaments in the years, but also he is now focusing on Heyball.
