Figuring this bit out at the minute. Tree-hugger, bike-lover and all-round free-ranger. Gaeilge 'gus fáilte.
I know we have a new one now, and she will surely give good speech too, but reading over some of Michael D's contributions - what an orator, what a thinker.

Very well worth a look.

I should surely have seen this quote before now, from Nicholas Sterne, former World Bank Chief Executive:

'Climate Change is a result of the greatest market failure the world has seen.'

Put a bunch of houseboats in. Live on a barge right at the heart of the city? Yes please!

The algorithm served me these two stories together. We are fiddling while Rome burns.

I have no problem with hippy-dippy - the world would be much the better place were the hippies in charge. I feel the same of natural world as Donne thought of mankind - each piece that's lost diminishes us all. And we in this generation are making choice for future generations that can't be undone.

Where did politicians go on holidays?

Nunja. As in, Nunja Business.

Politicians are entitled to a private life.

Here's something I didn't know.....

In Google Maps, if you tap on a bus stop, it shows the available routes serving the stop and a timetable for next departures. And you can view the full route to check for your handiest stop.

Really convenient feature I didn't know about until this week.

Today's adventure - Bunmahon!

The improvement in rural public transport is one of the things I'm proudest of from our time in government. And proof-positive of the adage, 'if you build it, they will come.'

(The bus is packed with kids, and not just my tribe.)

Reading Fintan O'Toole's excellent 'We don't know Ourselves'. His description of Bloody Sunday, an event that still reverberates down to the present day. 13 killed on the day.

A quiet day in Gaza. How long will this daily massacre impact Palestinian history? If indeed there are any left to write it

Also, see below (due mainly to Green Party work, to be sure). Which Cathal knows, because, to give him his due, he actually uses public transport.

Hey Meta - get in the bin.

Loves an aul haiku. This an old one retrieved from my old Twitters, but the right time of year....

Bud burst - prayer flags furled

Winter-tight. Stored syllables

Set now to spill song.

A Zero-Sum Game. For me to win, you have to lose.

But, with an election some distance away, is that the best strategic approach for the Centre Left here in Ireland?

The recent furore around the Farronshoneen Roundabout here in Waterford prompted some thoughts about the deliberate politicisation of #ActiveTravel investments and negative impact that has on #transport policy more generally:
