I don't know if Orwell addressed this specifically, but it feels like we're at a juncture where our "trusted journalists" have become the propagandized dolts; the ubiquitous question whether or not somebody condemns Hamas feels more like 'a modest proposal', like a shout-out to Jonathan Swift.
