Friday morning, a brief reprieve from the rain (back tomorrow!), enjoying coffee with Pugwash (the bastard child of Brian Wilson & XTC).

I don’t watch Jeopardy very often, but my wife had it on last night and I was excited to stumble across a question I could answer even quicker than the contestants.

Tuesday morning with the Feelies.

Sunrise hitting the Bay awfully late today; apparently we’re changing our clocks soon? Anyway, hope your day has a Point!

Got this hanging on the wall behind me! I think it benefited from good timing--a little later it would've been just another weird song relegated to college radio; but it arrived just when radio stations were trying to figure out what counted as "new wave" and playing some unusually eclectic music.

Seeing some live music this Friday and already starting to wonder when I’ll be able to duck out to the parking lot so I can get home at a reasonable hour. Aging bites.

Starting the week with some live David Gilmour. Tempted to just listen to Fat Old Sun on auto-repeat all day…

I gave up on vinyl long ago, but I've got a couple of those hanging on my office wall...

Revisiting last week’s spectacular @mymorningjacket.bsky.social Berkeley show as the sun tries to break through over the Bay.

Here's the weekly music survey from the local AM station I was listening to back then the week Bohemian Rhapsody hit #1. Gives some context on why this song sounded like nothing else.

@mymorningjacket.bsky.social at Berkeley’s Greek Theater… nothing compares.

Up early with Winter Hours and the sun over the Bay.

P.S. sounds even better cranked up in a driverless car!

Scrolling through the Ps over morning coffee.
August 7, 2025 at 3:03 PM
Continuing to spend some summer downtime organizing and occasionally purging my over-large collection of live music. Re-discovering a lot of great gigs along the way.

I get it. There are some clunkers, and they never developed a band-associated graphic style like some of the other classic rock greats. But I'm board with a number of them. And I do have Who's Next hanging over my head here in the office...

The dreaded 4 am jet lag wake-up call. Nothing to do but throw on a pot of coffee and some Nick Drake and watch the sun rise outside my window.

I remain convinced that one morning I will wake up and my giant 70s ‘fro will have grown back.
July 26, 2025 at 4:15 PM
Continuing my romp through old bootlegs and remembering how great a live act the later-period Byrds could be.
July 26, 2025 at 1:11 PM
Nearing completion of my my ongoing "organize/digitize the old live & rare CDs" project. Up to the Ys; finally done with @actualylt.bsky.social, moving on to Neil.
July 23, 2025 at 11:10 PM
Continuing this month's project of getting the live music in my digital library better organized... and reminding myself that the Rolling Stones were just so insanely great throughout the 70s (particularly the Mick Taylor years, but even beyond that).

Wow, these are pretty! One more example of why (1) I really miss my old vinyl collection, because it looks so cool to display; but (2) I'm so glad I've completely given up vinyl, in terms of cost & convenience. A few old LPs on the wall are enough for me...
