A belated #fieldworkfriday post. One of our last, or perhaps the last, survey of the season. This time with 15 men/women in total! Again on a #neanderthal site in #drenthe. Today in @NRC an interview w. Eelco Rensink of the Rijksdienst voor het Cultureel Erfgoed and myself on the current state of research on #neanderthals in the #Netherlands. A rapidly growing number of #paleolithic finds but only few people to study the longest period of our prehistory.

A few days ago we went surveying again on our middle #paleolithic site in #drenthe. Not many finds, but nevertheless a few interesting #neanderthal artefacts. A blade-like flake, a flake fragment of very fine-grained flint and a core or preform of a bifacial tool.

Last sunday we did our first survey this season at #Peest, our middle #Palaeolithic site in #Drenthe. Despite poor visibility and bad weather, we did manage to find 5 #Neanderthal flint artefacts: 3 cores and 2 flakes. Good start of the season! Looking forward to the next survey 😀 One of the cores 👇
