Marketing has 4 components:

Factory = Research, analysis & strategy

Distribution = Paid media, SEO, social

Packaging = Content formats

Label = Messaging & positioning

You can have the best factory & distribution…but if your package or labels are unappealing, your products won’t sell.

Have you analyzed your own purchasing behaviour?

Google used to be my front door when I would begin to research a product or company.

But more and more I noticed my product research starts on either YouTube or Reddit.

How about you?

In marketing, there are only two acceptable outcomes.

You either win.

Or you learn.

It’s only a failure if you don’t come out the other end with one of the two.

Marketing isn’t rocket science 🚀

Whoever knows their customer the most, wins.

What questions should you ask?

- What are you doing today to solve problem X?

- How big is this problem for you?

- What tools do you use to solve that problem?

The job of every sentence in your copy is to get them to read the next sentence.

The job of each step in your marketing funnel is to get them to the next step.

Keep this in mind when you’re crafting a social post, an ad, a landing page.

Marketing is a collection of small wins.

This is gonna sound like marketing fluff.

But your authentic brand voice is a competitive advantage.

Don’t under estimate the “Like” part in “Know, Like & Trust”.

Marketing’s job is to systematically dismantle all objections and paint the story of transformation.

A lot of marketing comes down to writing.

Whenever I’m tinkering with value props. I write.

Whenever I’m messing with positioning. I write.

Whenever I’m refining the message. I write.

Whenever I want to sell that message. I write.

Lesson? To become better at marketing…learn how to write.

One thing I’m learning as a creator that is SO counterintuitive as a marketer?

As a marketer, you’re focused on what you think the audience wants.

As a creator, create what YOU are passionate about. And your audience will find you.

My content strategy is simple.

Be helpful.

That’s it.

Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

People assume you build systems & automation once you’ve “grown”.

Until you realize you haven’t grown because you don’t have any systems & automation.

Create processes for pieces of your marketing & business that you *have* figured out.

Tiny steps is how you win.

Are you accidentally turning people away?

It could be because of the type of words you're using in your marketing.

You see, if you aren't using the same words that your audience uses to describe their challenge, problem or opportunity, they may think that whatever you have to offer isn't for them.
