Added a little Fresnel hover material to highlight interactable objects.

I think that's it for me today... I have to start redesigning the farmhouse tomorrow based on actual Burgundy houses from the era (as opposed to the crap design I was using.)

All the puzzle logic is scripted and we can open & close doors! Next up is the controller for the guards patrolling the farm & the the stealth mechanics.

Audio On! (I mean, if you want.) Added item pickup sounds! Just from Freesound.org. Plus some ambient sound recorded out the back door this morning and some public domain Debussy for a little tense mood.

Changed up the puzzle to something historically accurate & got the inventory system working! Now the player must locate a parachute & canister & pry it open to get the contents. Inventory appears at the bottom right & consumed items are removed. (Cool History next!) 1/2

Here's why I've learned about sculpting cloth in Blender: 1) Even quad density is more important than good topology 2) Model everything "too long" for the character... cool folds happen because a sleeve or pant leg is too long on the wearer.

The Democratic Socialists of America are still a small political group. But as economic inequality keeps burning, members are attracting interest and getting elected to office. Now activists are dealing with the opportunities and tensions of the moment, writes Mara Gay.

Ucupaint is amazing and I can't believe it's free. Mixing in a little painterly photobashing for the character textures. I don't think the world textures will be in this style... but it could work. (Using this killer brush pack: superhivemarket.com/products/cr-...)

You can have a "handsome young men fight fascists" game without the handsome young men so I'm working on a geometry nodes hair card system that generates UVs. Early, but it definitely looks like it will work.

i really think there is legit political space for running on "we are going to dismantle ICE"
How it started vs. How it’s going NOW 👀

The Secret Sculpt Mode MAX CONTROL button: Auto-Masking>Face Sets Boundary. You can create face sets quick from UVs, turn it on & then make seams and wrinkles easy.

The Grab2D brush is lowkey one of the best things to be added to Blender in a while. Working on the player model for my "Untitled French Resistance Game" today.

Maquis Studio is named for the rural Free French resistance fighters of WWII, who used the Cross of Lorraine as their symbol. I came up with a nice (I think) abstracted version of the cross & now I'm trying out different logo designs.

Scattering with Geometry Nodes is cool but you still can beat a quick rigid body sim for throwing some stuff at the ground.

Made a little export helper for Blender that duplicates & joins whatever you have selected before you export a .glb file to Godot. Reduces draw calls... 1 mesh instead of 30.

(Also redesigning my generator 4 the puzzle to be historically accurate & cooler.)

Day 18
Have you noticed this briefcase, right? Originally, I wanted to empty your inventory here so it wouldn’t get in the way during the DLC.

But I worried it wouldn’t be clear this happens AFTER escaping, so I left all your stuff where it is…

I switched my Player Controller to to an FPS (despite the fact that my WWII game has no S) because time travel/immersion is the main reason I make games.

Not bad progress for 3 weeks of Godot experience! I have a pretty good 3rd person controller script and a simple RPG style dialogue manager. Just trying to get it grayboxed and functional and then I can focus on making it pretty.
