And this isn’t really true either. Modern Defence Forces claims a number of origin points, including the Irish Volunteers (est. 1913), the IRA and the Defence Forces Act of 1923, none of which centrally involved Collins (and like the Provisional Govt, the National Army was a weird quasi-legal body)

Does Jennifer Double-Barrelled not realise that the Triple Lock is there explicitly to ensure Irish soldiers only serve on genuine international missions with the UN? Collins would be turning in the grave at these modern John Redmonds, so eager to see Irish troops die abroad on imperialist missions
