In many ways, teachers are also freedom's last line of defense. That's a huge responsibility to shoulder. But if 2025 James is anything like 1995 James, I know you're in the vanguard.

"The age of the newspaper is dead." Indeed it is. And it does make me sad. At least I had the foresight to quit the newspaper industry long before it collapsed — for a career in the book industry! Yeah, I guess I'm not the sharpest box cutter in the back shop. 🤣.

I do hope, however, we can encourage folks not to add an "s" to the ends of pluralized Japanese nouns. For example, we shouldn't say "mangas" and "animes" and "kimonos" (just as most of us never would say "sushis").

My hope and money is on the < part of that equation.
