If I walked into my neighborhood Showa-era diner and found Ron and Russell sitting there, I would faint for sure.

By the way, everyone, I'm talking about "New Jersey" James, not "Manchester" James (though they are pretty cool, too)

In many ways, teachers are also freedom's last line of defense. That's a huge responsibility to shoulder. But if 2025 James is anything like 1995 James, I know you're in the vanguard.

Thank you, James. That means a lot. Teachers like you are among the world's true heroes.

"The age of the newspaper is dead." Indeed it is. And it does make me sad. At least I had the foresight to quit the newspaper industry long before it collapsed — for a career in the book industry! Yeah, I guess I'm not the sharpest box cutter in the back shop. 🤣.

It's our 27th anniversary! Japanime — the company behind Manga University — was founded on this day in 1998. Today we celebrate the honor roll of students throughout the world who helped us get here!

I do hope, however, we can encourage folks not to add an "s" to the ends of pluralized Japanese nouns. For example, we shouldn't say "mangas" and "animes" and "kimonos" (just as most of us never would say "sushis").

My hope and money is on the < part of that equation.

My favorite filmmaker. I like to think he's now catching up with Angelo and Julee over a damn fine cup of coffee at the place where pies go when they die. RIP, David Lynch.

It's 成人の日 (Seijin no Hi; Coming of Age Day) in Japan. When we published our first "How to Draw Manga" book, today's celebrants hadn't even been born yet 😲
