Great episode! The amount of renewable energy in Texas has always baffled me because of the state's politics. This episode helped me understand the dynamics better. Thanks!

I love that there are organizations like this helping tell these vital climate stories. While many great sci-fi stories still convey important messages, it’s time for more grounded ones. Check out the THR article to learn more:

Anatomy of a ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Climate Crisis Episode
Green Screen, an organization co-founded by CAA Foundation, helps creatives tell climate-focused stories, which is what they did for the long-running medical drama.

The Grey’s Anatomy writers had some help portraying this storyline. According to THR, Green Screen helped them ensure the story was “evidence-based and grounded in science.” Green Screen does this for other productions, too! 2/3

I’m not saying every celebrity brand is like this. Shout out to Stella McCartney and Miranda Kerr for their brands scoring 4/5 (Good) on Good on You’s ratings system. While you’re checking out your favorite brand’s ratings, check out their fabulous content. It’s one of my go-to sites.

Supply chains are complex. However, celebrities have a platform to influence their fans. Given the industry's detrimental impact on the environment, if they want to start their own brand, they should educate themselves on the issues the industry faces to become sustainable.

It’s my hope that we can reach this monumental moment in real life. In the meantime, The Day After Tomorrow can still provide a vital message.

I also love how the Vice President, promoted to President, says, "For years, we operated under the belief that we could continue consuming our planet's natural resources, without consequence. We were wrong. I was wrong."

The scene gives me chills.

I recently rewatched The Day After Tomorrow, and it hits harder today than it did in 2004. More people are being displaced by climate change today, and while it’s not on the same scale as the film, it feels more relatable now than it did then.

As a former entertainment editor currently working in sustainability, that warms my heart. I’ve always felt that The Day After Tomorrow held an important message, even though it was exaggerated.

👗 Another substack I love is Amy Odell's Back Row. It’s a little for fun, and a little for fashion commentary, given I’m in the sustainable fashion space.

What are you reading?

♻️ For sustainable fashion, I love the Sustainable Fashion Forum on Substack, by Brittany Sierra. She does a roundup of all the sustainable fashion news from the week, provides job listings, and hosts Live Substacks with sustainable fashion professionals.

🎬 With my work in entertainment, I look to The Hollywood Reporter, particularly its Today in Entertainment newsletter. It’s a one-stop source for all things entertainment news. It’s so thorough, you really don’t need to look anywhere else. I also check out its sustainability page frequently.

But I also love its podcasts — the @politicsweeklyuk.bsky.social and @todayinfocus.bsky.social. With my impending move to the UK, the Politics Weekly UK podcast has been a valuable tool for learning about the political landscape there.

🌏 @theguardian.com is where I look for my world news. Additionally, it covers American news with a very different outlook from American news outlets. It’s great to see it from a different perspective and often with more balanced coverage.

📰 I’ve been a subscriber to @nytimes.com for years. It always felt like my contribution to journalism. Currently, I’m loving the Ezra Klein podcast. He constantly has thought-provoking conversations. It’s excellent food for the brain.
