I love those posts that point out things like 'JRR Tolkien wrote LOTR in his 40s', because it centers on something that I didn't really understand in high school, or even college: Life keeps happening, and new things are possible at every stage of it.

I never had this as a conscious thought, but I always sort of had this understanding growing up: that graduating college was the beginning of the end of life. That was the goal - you graduate, you do a career, then at some point you either retire or die.
Not so.
