So while reaching for the binoculars, I was like, "Huh, those jumping dolphins are kinda small, I wonder what species-"

And then I got hungry.

Ever seen a tuna feeding frenzy? Well you have now:

Been at sea for almost a week now, but we've gone straight out into the mid ocean. Briefly saw a blue whale, but not in time to get a picture or video. So instead, if I give you a coyote from my yard shortly before I set sail for this #FaunaFriday

This is the more common view I get of these great birds, swooping stiff-winged across the waves, even in weather much rougher than this. They almost never flap, but instead use a zig-zag swoop to catch air currents and updrafts near the surface, spending nearly zero energy to fly indefinitely.

I fairly frequently see albatross while offshore and they always make me happy. Usually they're wheeling in the distance, but occasionally they'll come in for a closer peek.

The oldest known individual is named Wisdom. She's at least 74 years old, and hatched a chick just this year!

Didn't think I'd have anything good to share for #FaunaFriday today, and while I was thinking that, a humpback whale decided to prove me wrong. So, here, have a humpback whale proving me wrong!
