I hear that. He stepped in at the right time with the right message. And like you said it depends on how well the party reads and reacts to his victory. Clearly the DSAs are having their moment and it’s not an opportunity the Dems can afford to miss.

I honestly believe he can do pretty well on all the above. Time will tell but he’s facing an uphill struggle in the current climate.

Ultimately most voters will look for two things imo: How he handles the stand off against trump and how he handles immigration and ICE, if on top of that potus doesn’t deploy the national guard for extra pressure which will also factor in how voters and residents perceive his leadership.

His acceptance speech was a straight dig at the current administration, this is much bigger than strictly city politics. That said I don’t think his promises are gonna be the metric of success here.
November 6, 2025 at 10:43 PM
Especially if POTUS delivers on his threat and cuts subsidies. I wish someone could tackle the MTA but under the current circumstances that’s unlikely too. Even the most willing of landlords is unlikely to freeze rent for the same reasons.

Adams definitely made it easier but you can’t exclude the larger politics at play and they affect his ability to deliver on his campaign promises. Prices will go up for the foreseeable future that makes lowering the cost of living of living out of his control for instance.

And you don’t even sound a bit Irish or perhaps you do in Ireland and then it switches back states side. Happy Anniversary!
November 5, 2025 at 5:45 PM
The campaign looked solid from afar but there’s also the knee jerk reaction against trump, like Obama after Bush. Let’s see how that plays out in the mid terms. That said those are tough promises to deliver and if he can’t he’s setting the dems further back. Fingers crossed or inch’allah as it were

Why is everybody obsessed with excusing POTUS’ behavior with mental insanity? He is perfectly sane. That’s what makes it worse. Just because what he does is crazy, doesn’t mean he’s mentally unfit. If he’s insane he doesn’t bear responsibility.

That’s a very ironic post.

Yeah. I wish he had said something like: I have nothing against capitalism it’s what allowed the country to be as great as it is. I believe we can do more with it and use it to uplift the little people as well. Having to work in the Wonka factory forever is not fair to them or economic competition
November 3, 2025 at 9:36 AM
Totally. But I would expect the candidates, well Mamdani at least, to know the difference. I don’t like capitalism doesn’t fly well, unless your target is solely voters under 30. I watched that interview & face palmed. It’s like when Harris said: we should all be woke! Know your damn audience
