She/Her
The mom friend, nerd (fan of sff books, movies, and TV, ttrpgs, and larps), hobbiest cook and baker.
November gone,8 books read, 3 more by T. Kingfisher, highly recommend "Bryony and Roses" for Beauty & the Beast fans. It was super hard to pick my favorite between "The Hearthwitch's Guide to Magic and Murder" and "Tempest of Tea ". Ultimately chose Hearthwitch since Tempest ends on a cliffhanger.

It was hectic September and October so I fell behind on my monthly book posts. In both months, I continued through T. Kingfisher's back catalog, I can safely say that she is officially one of my favauthors. She does a great job of weaving humor into all her books, fantasy, romance, or horror.

Just got home from the @darknwpodcast.bsky.social cast party, not only was it fun to meet and hangout with my fellow cast members (we had to record solo) but getting to hear some of the full episodes has me so excited for you all to hear them too! I am so proud to be a part of this project.

Just read "The Warm Hands of Ghosts" a two POV story about a Candian nurse & her soldier brother in WWI. While it has fantastical elements, it's a powerful book on the nature of trauma, memories and the transitionary state of WWI. In addition, it made me aware of how uneducated I am about WWI.

Finally my June reads! No bad books but my highlights were more @tkingfisher.com this time with horror! "House with Good Bones" won the month for the suspense. "No Drama Discipline" is a parent book I'll be rereading & recommending. Iron Widow is my top book for the first 1/2 of 2025!

I'm certain by the end of 2025 I'll have read all the books by @tkingfisher.com
Of the 7 I've read, 6 were this year, enjoyed all of them, but her horror is what I've enjoyed the most. They grab you & hold on, it's after midnight, I have to get up in 5 hours, but I still HAD to finish this book.

2025 book bracket update for May: I read 8 amazing books, from cozy romance to family trauma, to alien fighting giant mechas. T. Kingfisher remains a favorite author, but my top book for May is Iron Widow. I lost a lot of sleep staying up to listen to both it and the sequel Heavenly Tyrant.

In 2013 I started watching MLP: FIM. I was sad & wanted "fun & silly". I fell in love, and watched all the seasons I remember thinking about showing it to my future kiddo. 13 years later, 6 eps in my ~4 year old is loving it

Late this month with my reading bracket. I read 5 books in April, my top was "The Bones Beneath My Skin" by TJ Klune. I love his books' themes of finding your true self in a chosen family, grounded in scifi/fantasy settings. 2025 top book is still "Someone You Can Build a Nest In".

It's vital to understand that buying any licensed HP stuff is funding harm against trans people. Platforming the series is harful as well.

My husband & I loved HP so much we had coordinating house outfits, I mentioned our houses in my wedding vows. We left it behind, so can you.

Last night I took myself out for a MUCH needed solo date. I had thrown out my back last weekend, so I got a massage (hurts so good) at Mermaid Cove, then dinner and drink at Lazy Ballerina while diving into my latest bookclub book "The Remarkable Retirement of Edna Fisher" by E.M. Anderson. 10/10

Yesterday we celebrated my friend Carrie's birthday at a wine and paint, I've never done anything like this and was pleasantly surprised by how well my piece turned out (especially with how rushed we were at the end).

Happy Pi Day, please enjoy this picture of the most beautiful chicken pot pie I've ever made. Shout out to my preschooler for her fantastic egg washing technique.

This is your reminder that using a mixer (stand or handheld) is the easiest way to shred chicken!
My local Pride group is doing a pie potluck tonight (yes, we know it's a day early), and I'm doing classic chicken pot pie.

Book Bracket update with Feb reads:
"Lee" was not nearly detailed enough for me, cozy fantasy romance "The Spell Shop" by @sarahbethdurst.bsky.social was my fav because the real world sucks.
"Even Though I Knew the End" by @clpolk.com is still my top for 2025. Wonder what March holds.

My sister-in-law and nephew are spending the night. For a fun #Valentines dinner we did ❤️ pizzas. I made the dough last night (wheat and AP), and sauce today. Both kiddos loved decorating their pizzas. Next time I'll definitely make them smaller. Still a big hit!

Something I love about my daughter's preschool is how they incorporate kinesthetic/physical activities that tie into the lesson. They've been learning about Black History, so for Jackie Robinson they did T-ball, and for Bessie Coleman they made and flew paper airplanes. Really creates a memory.

One of my #dnd group made everyone's character as gingerbread. We are playing in a Fantasy High style campaign, so this is my Dragonborn Bard theater kid (notice her T-shirt for the musical “LEASE").
