Say his name:
Sam Nordquist.
He deserved better. Trans people deserve better.
"Five people physically and psychologically tortured a 24-year-old transgender man over the past two months before killing him and dumping his body in a field"; two of his murderers are child predators.

Trans people are in grave danger in this wretched country.

"As a Christian,' Anne Linn wrote, 'I was compelled by the Gospel, the words of Jesus, to use my life to try to diminish suffering for the world’s most vulnerable.... [now] children, children of God, will die unnecessarily.'"

Don’t just say DEI as if it’s a bad word. Spell it out.

Say diversity, which is the lifeblood of American society & culture & innovation.

Say equity, which a just society should pursue.

Say inclusion, because decent people believe in increasing belonging, not isolating people who are different.

I know several of us are feeling this way. It’s tough. 💔

Personally, I chose to cut those toxic folks out of my life. I’m not down with racism, misogyny or bigotry no matter who you are.

I choose to surround myself with people who have shared values. It’s not about politics, it’s about humanity.

Yes, yes, and yes. It feels like they are erasing my entire being, one piece at a time: science, philosophy, empathy, compassion, altruism, idealism, aspiration, inspiration, dreams and hopes, nature conservation,..... What's left to look at is naked materialism and shameless pillage.
For those who grew up in the 1960s/'70s, Trump's 1st week was especially painful and disorienting. His dictates were an all-out assault on the civil rights wins of that era, from Selma to Stonewall, ripping up the narrative of our lifetimes.

Now what? My new column www.inquirer.com/opinion/comm...
Children of the 1960s watch in pain as the story of our lifetime is erased
For boomers, the rapid reversal of 1960s-era gains for civil rights, women, LGBTQ, etc., has unraveled the story of our lifetimes.

if the world's richest man can afford to make a nazi salute but a 31 year old meterologist can't afford to criticize him for doing so, it suggests that the price of speech may in fact be slightly higher than "free"

I mean...

NASA did extensive research on making controlled crash landings as safe as technologically possible. That research was a gift. And Boeing embraced it and implemented the recommendations. But it all means nothing if there's a big fucking concrete barrier at the end of the runway!
