Trump ran on a pledge to immediately lower prices and now admits his policies will inflict “PAIN” on Americans in the form of higher prices but it will be “worth the price”

don't view these recent attempts to cut all social services as "what trump voters deserve". view them as the opportunity to radicalize them. viewing them with disdain only strengthens their movement. do you want to be smug, or do you want liberation? you don't get to have both.

The American refugee system, which Trump is dismantling, was put into place in response to America’s shameful failure to provide refuge to Jews persecuted by Hitler

@timothycsimons.bsky.social man, I’m doing a Veep rewatch and I wanted to just say- I keep forgetting you’re giving a performance and feel like they’re just capturing this awful person live. I rarely get caught in that, it’s a wonderful performance.

every single one of these guys is an incel loser who thought that being rich would make them popular and well-liked and when it didn't happen they lost their minds even further
Rogan interview with Zuckerberg that dropped this morning is something to behold. basically him dumping years of anger at the media, the government, social discussion

clearly all pent up for years and now allowing himself to do it because of Trump coming to power

I really think in 2025 we should say no, and loudly, to the AI project. People need to reject it wholesale, stop playing with the pieces or accepting it here and there

New hyper specific Letterboxd
Just let them finish performing before you take them away
Come on, let them do their art or their talent or their shtick, *then* you can haul them off to wherever at the end.

Return of the Jedi was my absolute fave as a kid, but now for the life of me I can’t believe how badly it’s photographed.

*what were your Revelatory Rewatches of the year?* brief explanations encouraged!!

& what about the opposite? were there rewatches that were a disappointment or didn't hit the same?

the subway shooter in 2022 left the keys to the uhaul he rented and his credit card in the subway car he shot up and then wandered around new york for 29 hours and the NYPD only caught him - after dozens of tips - when he called them from a pay phone and told them to come get him
i personally love when the largest police force in the world has to crowdsource their job

I’ve learned that I am always rabidly down to see a new cover to the game Clue with six new Clue guys. Gimme a green Brooklyn hipster and a red fashion influencer, I want those Clue guys!

After enough rewatches, Fincher’s Dragon Tattoo slipped above Zodiac for me. Bottle world with the icy, deathly yellow colors, richer characters than you often get. Captivity scenes that are terrifying, funny, then terrifying and a little funny. Sweaters and hoodies.

Party Down is just so much better observed character comedy than any of the huge NBC sitcoms. Came back years later with the perfect character progression for the cast and updates for the times. I can’t believe it doesn’t do better.
