There is a point at which intense, obsessive hatred of something wraps around into being a fetish. It's the same reason these guys are obsessed with the idea of cuckoldry. It's their "fear" of being replaced slowly morphing into a humiliation fetish.

Just watched this and it reminds me of a few passages from my current read.
It's so hard to confront these things, especially when it feels like we get no moments to just live and breathe as human beings. Regardless, I'm trying my best to make space for hope.

IMO, people who wanna write fic but refuse to engage with canon are the same as artists who refuse to learn anatomy.
Canon isn't law, but you don't get to disregard it like it doesn't matter. It's a basic guide that you use as a springboard to your own creative story/narrative.
