Vogue absorbing Teen Vogue is 100% about the fact Teen Vogue was becoming one of the most reliable independent political news sources. Big money hates quality journalism.
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

The US has already fallen.
The Congress is essentially shut down.
Unidentified troops deployed across the country.
Private donations are building a throne room.
Warships are heading to Venezuela.

And "the people" have no say in any of it.

Is there anything more disruptive to productivity than a piece of software you are familiar with suddenly changing the interface to a "more productive design?"

Illinois State Senator Karina Villa sprang into action to protect her community from ICE raids, alerting neighbors to their rights and chasing off masked agents. This is how you stand up to authoritarianism. We should all be inspired by Sen. Villa's courage.

Waited two months for them to fill that hole back in and this morning they start digging it back out again.

This is not what John Maynard Keynes intended.

The whole point of many generative AI tools is that they take natural language as the input interface.

The rise of people claiming to teach you how to prompt is either blatant rent seeking or evidence that the basic user interface doesn't work as intended.

I see the Australian business experts are out and about spouting about AI won't cause jobs to be lost, they'll be changed to more productive jobs.
But the biggest players, Google, Meta, etc, are just sacking people, not using them more productively.

Sure, Reed Richards seems pompous calling himself Mr Fantastic. At least he didn't insist everyone use his full title, Mister Fucking Fantastic.

Hey @jamesgunn.bsky.social @jimlee.bsky.social tricking comics retailers into promoting digital comics when we thought we were leveraging the movies to promote comic shops was the biggest 🖕 retailers have seen from DC in years.
We want to celebrate DC, but not like this.

So Ted Cruz is worried the 10 year ban on state regulation for GenAi won’t make it (because it isnt related to the budget). So what does this weasel do? Trying to make funding of broadband expansion conditional to States not passing ANY GenAi laws.

Call your Senators because this is BS!
Ted Cruz bill: States that regulate AI will be cut out of $42B broadband fund
Cruz attempt to tie broadband funding to AI laws called “undemocratic and cruel.”…

Are ICE doing raids with masks and no ID in states with stand your ground laws?

Because that would create a very potentially wild west sort of situation.

If they don’t tell you their names, wear name tags, hide their faces and don’t have body cameras, treat them as kidnappers as that is the only logical conclusion you can come to. Protect people from such traffickers at all costs. Your reasoning is sound in case of a court hearing.

Probably one of my favourite characters in Andor.
Lonni Jung was a pawn who did his best to control his world.

His demise seems like a cold payment for his work. But it is in fact the key to the freedom he wanted for his family. His death made him a martyr to the Empire and protected his family.

You know in movies when big super evil crime bosses have their pair full of artworks stolen from around the world?

AI image generators are just the budget clip art version of that.

If you assume "86" specifically means "kill" rather than a more general "throw out" or "remove" it says more about you than the person actually using the term.

There is something kinda uncanny about people fully invested in the Labor Party being completely OK with factional deals and horse trading inside the party, but aggressively opposed to the concept of independents and crossbenchers having a say in parliament.
