Anthropology undergrad. Exhausted.
The course is Language, Thought, and Culture... why is the first assignment that I read a brilliant sci-fi story and get ChatGPT to reproduce it?

The concept of the assignment requires neither thought nor culture, and is a spit in the face to both Octavia Butler and Isaac Asimov...

I am currently stuck at work until this evening because ONE attorney is here and needs to make sure the office is open for a personal package he sent to the firm rather than this very expensive porch...

when you, years out from an election, say "i will vote for that triangulating shitbag throwing minorities under the bus because they'll still be better than the other guy" you need to understand that the triangulating shitbag is Watching You: "they'll still vote for me! no need to change course!"

I feel like people hating on 28 Years Later either love the second film because it's kind of a schlocky basic zombie film or they never bothered enduring the goofy editing employed in the other films before going to see a mass-advertised summer horror film.

It will find its audience.

Must be an in-office day for the test subjects at the lobotomy factory in SLC. Never have I come to a complete stop on the freeway, in the left lane, while all other lanes continued at full speed, and then I drove to work today.

Everyone should read. I've been isolating and feeling very lonely for various reasons, and stepping into the cathedral of words that another human has constructed in a frantic attempt to express themselves has made me feel alive and offered a genuine intimacy I feel most of us are lacking.

I understand the psychosis of end times Christians because I, too, have been promised paradise dozens of times and keep falling for the same lie...

Currently 50 pages into House of Leaves, and if this lands the way so many claim it will, it may be competing with Les Mis for my favorite novel. Holy fuck, the poetry and power is palpable in every sentence.

Me, last night in bed: I need to cry to release anxiety - can't.

Me, this morning: I need to cry - can't.

Me, as soon as I get to work and need to be composed: I need to cry - cries.

Does everyone else's manager respond to calling out sick with "K" and a list of things they're responsible for that day? Or do y'all have competent management where you work?

Illiteracy in the Middle Ages: the catholic church will just read the important parts of the Bible to me!

Management, if you can't handle an hour and a half of covering the people you manage, maybe get a job you're qualified for.
