She paused in front of the door. “Do you really have that little regard for your own life?” Pemrot asked. Odessa turned to face him, but she was not prepared to answer that question. From the look on her uncle’s face, her lack of response was enough. She thought of her promise to Lilith…what her and Argo’s reaction would be once they saw her. Promises were easily broken, but what would be left of her if she did this any other way? Pemrot walked to her and tugged her into a one-armed hug, something they had never done before. “Remember to keep your elbow up,” he whispered into the top of her head. “You’re always dropping your elbow...”
