Retired University of Wisconsin - River Falls chemistry professor. First Vice Chair, Pierce County (WI) Board of Supervisors. Pissed off pragmatic progressive. Views represented are my own.
They just want the job to be done well.

I did just that, after Scott Walker.

The only thing I would suggest is this - first, talk to the person you want to run against. You might find that they’re on your side. And/or, they’ve been waiting for someone to pass the mantle to.

Many local electeds I know aren’t in it for their own power.

It's the big thing you push around with your groceries at Costco.

Not *just* Reagan. Let's remember that he was a racist extremist, giving a speech in Mississippi extolling the virtues of "state's rights". For you young folk, that's dog whistle for "let's keep the n***ers down".

The rot comes from the modern Republican party, which followed him and his extremism.

"Roasting and eating babies - Dems take the extreme view this is wrong."

Chuck Schumer looks for middle ground - is it ok to roast the babies but not eat them?

"No, you may not look at my phone.

No, you may not look at my tablet.

I want to talk to my lawyer."

Although it is within my First Amendment rights, I suppose it is not advisable to ask my questioners "did you get this job after you were fired as a mall cop".

(Most) scientists learned this long ago with creationists. You can't debate them. You don't debate them.

Yarvin, D'Souza, etc. and their fellow travellers have adapted the Gish Gallop to neofascism. They shovel bullsh*t much faster than you can refute it.

Not just Walmart. Menards, Home Depot, Fleet Farm; Best Buy. ABC Building Supply (Diane Hendricks). U-Line (the Uhliens). Kohls. Target. Dick's Sporting Gds.

Every single building supply company.

Every single clothing retailer - there won't be fall/winter clothes.

Every single... u get the idea

1) You beat me to it. Maybe there's no room for alcohol AND gambling.

2) I practically grew up in my grandparent's small town Wisconsin bar. Served my first tap at age 10.* I've never known anyone to blow their whole paycheck on bar dice.

* Statue of limitations is less than 55 years. I think. 😉

Just wait until they use “AI” on that data to “identify” who’s queer, who’s adjacent, and who’s an ally…

I'm a retired college professor. I was not allowed to install software on my office computer, even though all I had was student grades. Because security.

I'm now a county supervisor, with no budgetary authority. I don't get to install software on my computer. Because security.

WTAF?

Of course, what does the law mean to these people anyways. It just gets in the way of what they want to do.

If they somehow get them without the consent of the providers (*DOGE* *cough* *DOGE*), the penalty is imprisonment for up to five years.

It is a HIPAA violation. Open and shut. Pay fine, go not pass go, go to jail.

The question is how they're going to get those records, because the health care providers face significant penalties including potential loss of license for disclosure.

That "dole" would be federal financial aid programs, which allowed a working class 1st generation college kid like me to attend college. Hillsdale thinks that's a bad idea. I say - to h*ll with them.

Thank you, God, for enlightening David Brooks. And Bill Kristol. (!)

I trust it didn't take a burning bush, but I know you'll do whatever is needed.

God, have mercy. After all he is missing a lot of gray matter through the digestive tract of his brain worm.

The fucking enemy of my fucking enemy is my fuckin-eh friend, I guess…
April 18, 2025 at 1:07 AM
Yeah. We're county "supervisors" in Wisconsin, not county commissioners.
April 17, 2025 at 11:06 PM
Sorry. I am (or was, before retirement) a full professor at a small Midwestern public university. I don't understand. What is this "clout" of which you speak?
