I wrote it because you're a big account, you have a lot of pull and not everyone knows what to look for when it comes to stuff like this. Some people were already going to walk away from your replies thinking that most journals charge for cover art. I'm sorry if it came off weird.

However, I have seen pictures recently that have activated my "this is AI bullshit" alarms only to find that they were drawn back in 2014 or something, so I think people should do just a little bit of digging before throwing the accusation around (just a general reminder; not directed at you) (2/2)

One more thought on this: I think in this specific case, I am inclined to believe that the cover "art" is T2I-generated because of the combination of the weird tint and the journal just crediting "the authors." This is bad! (1/2)

Not really that interested in defending them because journals not paying for cover art is bad, but *this* journal at least doesn't charge for an author-submitted art (see cover charges).

A little ashamed to admit that I soured on Dawkins/Harris/late stage Hitchens for aesthetic reasons before it hit me that they're hateful pricks (switch flipped and I just found them extremely annoying the moment I got to college), but knowing that was a blind spot for me then was instructive.

The squishy phrase that keeps slipping into Dem candidates' platforms is "an all-of-the-above approach to energy." Drives me up the wall. It's 2025! Should be pretty easy to make a case for things that aren't PIPING METHANE DIRECTLY INTO YOUR HOUSE.

I am in favor of releasing taxpayer money off up to $100M to fund the worst buddy cop movie you have ever seen starring RFK Jr and Sunny Balwani in which they are encouraged to do their own wild stunts. This constitutes an effective form of harm reduction in 2025.

This one is just super funny. Bluesky has done itself no favors, but then again "Kendzior did something goofy and out of pocket" was never off the table, but then again it was an obvious Johnny Cash reference, but then again it was about as well thought out as her other stuff, etc.
