1/2 Exciting news! 🎉 My Oxford Classical Dictionary entry on Pre-Roman Dalmatia is now (finally) published. 🏺✨
It explores how local communities + Greek settlers shaped the Dalmatian islandscape long before the Romans.

The material on display reveals long-distance connections and hybrid forms, including a Hellenistic-style Issaean cup with a hunting scene (very cool!). A window into Adriatic Iron Age life—developed through joint work with the University of Zadar. #archaeology #Adriatic

Here we go!
I love Nolan’s films—most of them, I’ll admit.
But the classicist in me screams:
The whole point of the Odyssey is—do not defy the gods!
Still... I can’t wait to see what he does.

Excavating on Brač Island 🇭🇷 comes with its own cast of characters. One very friendly goat has taken a liking to our team (and our lunches), while a flock of rather judgmental sheep keeps a suspicious distance 🐐❤️🐑👀 Field archaeology & local animals. #archaeology

Interesting lecture last night at Senate House! Paul Halstead (Professor Emeritus, University of Sheffield) gave a fascinating talk on olive growing, oil exports, and ‘citizen science’ in Archaic-Classical Athens, sparking great discussion on community involvement. 🏺🌿 #Archaeology
