I know I post about the projects I volunteer on more than my own research... But I love these crabs so much! Great Bay, NH, USA.

One month in to horseshoe crab monitoring season! On Sunday, I counted ~60 individuals at one site.

It's the beginning of horseshoe crab spawning season!! Thrilled to see this dude scuttling around yesterday, and to contribute to the annual Great Bay horseshoe crab monitoring #ParticipatoryScience project!

Passed my comprehensive exams last week, AND my #2025MMM bracket is currently leading in my pool. The beavers are out rebuilding their dam, the red-winged blackbirds are yelling my favorite bird yell. And I'm going to visit dear friends I haven't seen in four years. Things I'm happy about.

Once again, my favorite photo from the field season goes to this often blurry camera that - in exactly the right light with exactly the right conditions - gives me a stellar photo of a red squirrel or a chickadee. Thank you, crappy Bushnell camera, you're a star.

Thanks Alexej! I think there may be some visible claw marks, which is what threw me off when I first saw it. Made me think possibly gray fox. But the c-shaped negative between toes and heel is so perfectly felid!

Out doing some fieldwork yesterday when I came across this solitary print on a trail covered by dog tracks. Bobcat? My hand (left) and my dog's print (right) in the first photo. The trail was completely obscured by dogs, but this one print stood out!

First snow of the season in southern New Hampshire! Good day for tracking wildlife, like this squirrel.

Will trained Hooper on fisher collars, then brought him out to find the dropped collar. Hooper found it in minutes! I can’t quite express how happy this makes me. Detection dogs are incredible, detection dog teams who know what they’re doing are unstoppable! (3/3)

My partner and I used to work with conservation detection dogs. When we moved to NH so I could go to grad school, we adopted 4 of the dogs we worked with and those working pups became pets. They haven't worked a detection job in four years. (Some photos from their working dog days!) 1/3

Trying to build up my community over here more, I'd love to connect with more wildlife ecologists, landscape ecologists, and graduate students! I'll be posting some of my research and more from my lab, and tons of camera trap pictures of wildlife in New Hampshire!

Hello! I'm a PhD student at U of New Hampshire studying how human development impacts mammalian wildlife. I have a background in field research, and a hopeful future as an applied researcher creating conservation solutions with communities. I love reading, walking dogs, and mutual aid!
