Competitive shooting, boxing, drugs, harm reduction, and life. It's all about mindsets and shifts, focus, precision, and respect. Navigating a shared context with the flexibility to pivot when needed -- keeping connection and purpose.

This brings to mind how a parallel “barrier” to advocacy work around drugs and drug policy reform exists. Even though we talk a lot about intersectionality, the work tends to stay siloed and within bubbles. Time for some constructive disruption…

The language used to show a character’s hatred toward people who use drugs could also have been handled differently. Using more constructive ways to depict hatred—without resorting to dehumanizing terms—could challenge audiences to reflect on stereotypes rather than perpetuate them. #GreenBonesMovie

A thought, however—By focusing on an innocent protagonist, the film missed making a deeper point. It’s easier to evoke compassion for the innocent—what if the protagonist had committed the crime? That would force us to confront what justice & dignity mean for everyone, not just the wrongly accused.

Bookmarking, thanks! Reminds me of a police head here who told me she supports harsh punitive policies because “evil drug lords” throw drugs into our waters specifically to corrupt and erode Filipino values. Perfect example why we also need to engage with underlying thinking driving policy actions.
