Passing laws for gender justice since 1978.
"Running the table" - when legislators make decisions about which remaining bills from the session will get funded with any remaining available revenue - is always a nail-biter. Many of our priority bills received funding including family planning, Respite for ME, menopause education and more.

All eight anti-trans bills have been defeated in the Maine Legislature! While we will surely see more attempts to roll back human rights in Maine and nationally in the next few years, but today, we can celebrate this victory, and know that we are that much stronger for it.

The Maine Senate has voted AGAINST 2 of the proposals attempting to roll back civil rights for trans Mainers! Thank you to the senators that voted against these bills. The House will take up more anti-trans bills today. Tell your Reps to vote against them all! secure.everyaction.com/aWNoJHSh9EWy...

Yesterday was a long, tough and inspiring day at the state house as more than 300 PEOPLE showed up to offer testimony in opposition to 8 anti-trans bills. We are so proud to be a part of this community that stands up for the rights of ALL Mainers!

Tomorrow a swath of bills that would seek to deny trans people - especially trans youth - a number of civil rights will be heard before the Maine Legislature. We firmly oppose all these bills and will be there to voice our opposition to them, and our support of the trans community in Maine.

We are proud to join our allies in the Mainers for Tax Fairness Coalition for a Tax Day Rally on April 15 in Augusta! Congress is gutting Social Security, Medicaid, health care (including family planning!) education, veterans’ care and more — just to bankroll tax cuts for the ultra-rich.

It is more important than ever that the Maine Legislature pass LD 143, which will help fund family planning services in Maine. And it is more important than ever that we call upon Sen. Collins, the Chair of the Senate’s budget committee, to demand the restoration of Congress’s funding priorities.

While terrible abortion bills that won't pass are getting lots of attention, a far more important bill is currently before the Maine legislature: LD 143, which would invest in Maine's family planning sites to ensure essential healthcare services are available, accessible, and affordable.

In 2024, women out-earned men in just 2 out of 131 occupations. The wage gap is real.

One of the ways we’re working to close the gap is to pass the Maine Equal Rights Amendment, which will ensure that all people are protected from gender discrimination.

Today the Labor Committee is hearing LD 54, a bill which would require that salaries be published in job postings, a proven way to reduce the pay gap.

There’s a lot of opposition for something so easy to do: “This could open the door to people chasing a paycheck instead of having a passion.” 🤨
