I'll give it a try! Mostly what I'll be listening for is irony, which I feel like is Schumann's defining modality (as nostalgia/regret is for Chopin, the theater for Liszt). It's one of the reasons Schumann's songs are my favorite: the gap between piano and voice is a space for ironic commentary.

He installed solar panels on his roof and got dinged by the city for violating historical preservation/"the character of the neighborhood", if I recall. I used to follow him because he advocates for more housing, but stopped because he's a smug, incurious asshole.
