Dear Senator King - Your recent vote to confirm Missouri Solicitor General Joshua Divine for a Federal Judgeship was, of course, a mistake - one that will cost lives. All over the country, women are losing their right to get life-saving healthcare and are being prosecuted for miscarriages and abortions alike; People are being rounded up and being put in concentration camps (both foreign and domestic) for the crime of having certain surnames or non-white skin; And the highest levels of the Federal Government are using all the pressure they can bring to bear to force compliance with the President's every whim, whether in the media, finance, academia, public schooling, health care, or the equal application of the law. This is not democracy—it is tyranny, it is fascism. And yet, you still treat Republicans in the Senate as valued colleagues, you do favors for them, you esteem them and expect esteem in return, when these same colleagues would happily see you hanged from a gallows on the Mall. These are not colleagues; This is a vicious mob of criminals that seeks to topple two hundred years of law and precedence and replace it with an ethnostate where citizenship is earned by obedience to the state. The fact that you are not treating this like the emergency it is, that you so routinely grant cloture and unanimous consent, and throw this country's women and children under the bus so you can do favors for your friends, tells the people of Maine that you are no longer qualified for your office. Resign, and let someone else defend the republic that you won't.

Text: "There is no value in sacrificing Congress' Article I responsibilities in order to "keep the government running", when that same government is already being illegally shutdown, in fits and starts, by an unelected and even unappointed party. I understand that civility and procedure are part of the Senate's civic religion, but this is a five-alarm fire. The economy is crashing, married women are losing their voting rights, court orders are being defied, Ukraine and all Europe are being abandoned to Russian aggression, writs of attainer have (somehow) returned, and the end of PEPFAR and similar programs will sentence literal millions to death. Failure to fight these attacks on America's founding principles is complicity in the authoritarian government to come. There are places in the world where talk of human rights gets you abducted off the street and thrown out of windows or airplanes—I never thought the United States would become one of them! Please, Senator King, implore your colleagues to stand on the side of what America could be, not what we've let it become."
