43 years ago, the USPS decided email posed an existential threat—unless email was delivered though the mail.

Literally. Printed out on paper, stuffed in a blue-and-white envelope, and mailed, for 26¢ for the first page, plus 5¢ for a second page.

That, for 3 years, was E-com.

I'm terribly forgetful ... enough that I tend to snap a photo of my parking spot so I'll remember where I parked.

- POP3 stands for Post Office Protocol
- The original IMAP spec has been lost to time
- IMAP originally stood for Interim Mail Access Protocol. IMAP2 swapped the I out for Interactive, then IMAP 4 swapped Internet instead.
