I stayed up until 2am but everything is pretty much done. here are 3 parsnip pies that we'll have warm with honey Greek yogurt & warm honey. I eschew sweet pumpkin things & everybody turns up their nose at this one--until they have a bite. 🥧
3 parsnip pies that have cooled on a woodblock table. the one at the left is very large, the middle one is somewhat smaller, and the right pie is a wee bachelor's pie for sharing with our little old neighbor, Jane. there are ceramic canisters asking the back of the table and a sourdough starter is bubbling on the counter. an out of place bread knife is resting behind the pies. the light is warm kitchen lighting in the still-dark morning.

the windows are steamy because I have spent the morning baking bread.
two unbaked loaves, one round, one oblong. they are resting on a wooden board which is on a wooden tabletop. the dough is ready for cold ferment for 24 hours. two baked loaves of rosemary olive oil sourdough, one to keep and one to share. a round loaf has just come out of the oven and is crackling as it cools on a red silicon riser on the foreground. the oblong loaf is resting behind it on a wooden cutting board. there are bits of glad pyrex measuring cup and sourdough starter that needs feeding in the frame.

this picture from the Oval made me think of this painting I analysed for a larger project in maybe 1999? the composition is flipped but it's almost exactly the same vibe & it took me a few days to remember which painting it even was...anyway thanks for living in my brain, Piero della Francesca

This allowed us to better analyze the composition through the use of diagrams

a picture taken from inside the porch screen door so there is a faint screen grid over it. across the street, there is a heavy dusting of snow on the bank of the reservoir, the now-naked red maple, and a little blue Honda crv. the snow hides the dents. closer to us, a terra cotta pot that somebody bolted to the porch trailing with the remnants of summer wildflowers. a single very very late pink cosmos flower atop a 2 foot tall stem bobbing her head in winter's lake-breathy air. most of the cosmos in town bloomed in August and were gone by September but not mine. mine are blooming in mid-November.

another movie-quality homemade Halloween costume on the books! this was the most challenging & fun one yet & after 10 years of coaching, arcade came through with maybe 10 Almond Joys as my reward 🎃

there's a perfect waxing yellow crescent moon rising over the reservoir tonight & it smells like winter out there & I keep telling myself to remember this remember this remember this just in case it gets hard to remember

an unbaked oblong loaf has been scored with a really amateur looking bat which I now realize looks more bat signal than cute wee flying sonar mammal. the loaf is on a silicon hammock resting on a wooden peel waiting to slide into the hot cast iron Dutch oven which isn't in the picture but that's where the bread bakes

big storms rolled through last night. 40 mph winds & sideways rain & it got pretty cold. seems appropriate that MY plants waited for the gloom to bloom
4 terra Cotta pots have been screwed into a brown wood railing of a porch so they can't blow off. they are strings that were there for sweatpeas to climb. there are only very tall thick stems with wispy delicate leaves. the pot on the left has 2 pink dwarf morning glories and the 3rd pot has a big pink and yellow cosmos flower perched atop one of the tall stems. a few stems from cosmos that bloomed weeks ago are bent from the strong storms they endured overnight.

this morning glory that escaped the garden & crossed the sidewalk over to the yard is giving me hope that I can ALSO chew through the Swiss cheese & find a different timeline. maybe not a better timeline. maybe the mower will also come for me but man, I've got to try. 🧀
A single pink morning glory is growing in a shitty grass situation in a front yard. Behind it is a sidewalk and futher back there is a garden full of morning glories. despite the cold, some of them are blooming. Behind that is a grown brick wall and railing of a first floor porch there is also a statue of Saint Francis of Assisi on the little but of ledge above the garden. He, as with the morning glories, comes with the house.

S1/e24 / Is There a Doctor in the House? / Ephiny has a casual baby centaur c-section no worries! she's up playing with hybrid baby 5 minutes later like nbd those hooves didn't kill me! also the baby centaur is not unlike a baby goat but is also supremely horrifying actually & I absolutely hated it.
A very up and at 'em Ephiny minutes after a centaur baby was easily c-sectioned out of her body. We only get a quick-shot glance of the two of them together but the centaur baby is a terrifying mashup of a baby goat with a baby human torso where it's head should be. Absolute nightmare shit.

picked out our pumpkins last week & am realizing that my pumpkin is too perfect to do the thing i want to do & now i must procure a second taller, more bulbous pumpkin. 🎃
