Genderfluid Catholic theologian (M.A.). Trying to make every person’s day a little bit better -- pray for me! “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” Retro video game/home video/book collecting is my vice.

“Poverty challenges Christians, but it also challenges all those who have positions of responsibility in society. I urge Heads of State and the leaders of nations to listen to the cry of the poorest. There can be no peace without justice, and the poor remind us of this in many ways.” - Pope Leo

The USCCB‘s disinterest in being a prophetic voice against fascism is a major blow to U.S. Catholics who really need all the institutional support they can get to protect migrants & the hungry without SNAP. The work will continue, but the Church’s credibility in America will continue to be damaged.

On the other hand, just read Mark Massa’s book on Catholic Fundamentalism in the U.S. and so Coakley’s record isn’t a good sign. It’s reallyyy looking like the U.S. bishops are not interested in prioritizing protecting migrants, even when under federal threat, and I doubt that will change soon.
