Unhandled exception

Oxford, UK.

I run a technology consultancy business (https://www.nirima.com) and a financial planning site (https://goldenpathfinance.com)

I'm infuriated that I have to pay £5 to bring my £180,000 range rover into central oxford...

(narrator: The vehicle takes about 2 hours to simply depreciate in value that much).

Why have politicians such a poor grip on figures?

The best way to make bus services cheaper to use is to make them cheaper to run.

A primary input to cost to run a regular service is: speed of service. Round trips per vehicle per hour. I.E: congestion matters. A lot.

I was intrigued by the ASC606 mention. I had to look it up as I (not being American) didn't know it allowed the up-front sale part of the cost could be distributed as a part of the "subscription" (not just the monthly fee).

Any other refs on this? Seems another good way to inflate a bubble..

Not taxing something is not a subsidy any more than failing to steal your wallet is an act of charity.

If any of those things were a good idea, people would not need to be coerced into investing in them.

It won’t make one iota of difference. I’d simply rebalance holdings out of SIPP vs ISA.

She’d, as you say, be better addressing the ‘why’ people don’t buy here.

But I suspect her to be a bear of very little brain.

"Encourage investing" in the dog-days of the longest bull-run in history.

What. Could. Possibly. Go. Wrong?

On no account criticise or draw attention to the gigantic bubble growing in the corner as you will make our investors angry

Cllr Bearder: “Bus operators have invested £42m into new buses. They’ve done their bit. We made a contractual commitment to deliver 10% faster journey times by December 2025. If we fail to uphold our side of the bargain, we run the risk of potential litigation.”
