Ha! I had to commute from the Eastside one year across I-90, and I figured out that if it was going to be a parking lot on Mercer Island anyway, taking the scenic route around half the island and rejoining traffic at the south end took just as long. Magical year, that.

I love that part of town. I used to live in Leschi and would go to Seward Park pretty often just to clear my head.

I was a fan of her writing at the time and I also never knew about her book. :( But I was a true believer in tech back then, even though I was really annoyed by and felt excluded by SV. I had a few more years of reflection and learning to do, I think, before her book could have made an impression.
