Huge, diverse crowd for the #FreeDC #NoKings rally on Pennsylvania Ave in Downtown DC this afternoon. Lots of creative, hand-made signs.

Several hundred people turned out for the #NoKings #Standupforscience rally at #NIH this morning.

I though Summit County had the best fall colors until we headed down to Custer County in the south of the state. Maybe the moose was also going there. #fall #colorado #leafpeeping

It's not often a moose pops out on the trail right in front of you, but this one did this week in Colorado. He was headed downhill for the evening and did not care one bit that he startled me and the one other hiker he nearly knocked over. He mooseyed on down the slope. #moose #wildlife

The @silversat.bsky.social #cubesat is up!
NASA, Northrop Grumman and SpaceX are giving the student-made project a lift to the #ISS! They'll be tweeting pix from orbit if all goes well. Last night's watch parties in Silver Spring and Cape Canaveral sure did. #edusky #spacesky

Some dramatic moments tonight as @silversat.bsky.social team watched their little #cubesat launch into orbit after 8 long years of hard work. Middle and high school kids designed and executed this project and made it happen. It will tweet from space - sorry skeeters but that's the OG NASA protocol.

This lovely yellow garden spider has been hanging out in my front yard for a few days. Today the drizzle highlighted her perfect web. It's just a lousy cellphone picture but even people who don't like spiders might be able to appreciate the symmetry and her beautiful coloring. #spider #nature

My favorite from all of today's demos. Chevy Chase, MD. On a main route into DC, steps away from the homes of the likes of Supreme Court justices and other bigwigs.

I discovered this weekend that butterflies and bees really, really like thistles.

Trump Troops keeping protesters and luxury chocolate shops safe at DC's Union Station Saturday morning. Yes, they accepted some free samples.

Blatant crime! Yet no sign of the federal agents sent to stop #HELLSCAPEDC.
August 11, 2025 at 10:13 PM
Finally! Some real crime! Can you see it? #HELLSCAPEDC
August 11, 2025 at 10:10 PM
Oh! Maybe a biker gang? No federal agents out there dealing with them, though.
August 11, 2025 at 10:08 PM
No evidence of raging crime at the Department of Energy HQ, and no evidence of federal officers there to defend all the nuclear secrets against all the dangerous criminals, either. Some federal workers taking a smoke break, though. #HELLSCAPEDC

Also not a lot going on at the federal government buildings in L'Enfant Plaza. No sign of any of the federal agents. Or much of anyone at all, come to think of it.
August 11, 2025 at 10:04 PM
Not much happening at ICE HQ over in SW DC
August 11, 2025 at 10:02 PM
This is where DEA agents were patrolling earlier, thank goodness.

This is near 14th St in NW DC.

For those of you who don't live here, I put together a little tour of #HellscapeDC so you can understand why Trump had to deploy federal agents today to save the city from all the raging crime.
