Last week I reaffirmed @scottishgreens.org' commitment to legal aid reform to ensure survivors of domestic abuse can access justice.
I was pleased to discuss animal welfare with the SSPCA & those seeking to ban greyhound racing in Scotland.
And talk inclusion with @includem.bsky.social
And more:

Last chance to save St Fittick's Park!

Today, Aberdeen's Planning Committee will be discussing the latest planning application for the development and industrialisation of St Fittick's Community Park - Torry's last remaining green space.

I strongly oppose the development. Read more in the thread

75 years ago today, the European Convention of Human Rights, ECHR, was created. The UK played a key role in shaping it.
We should celebrate the ECHR & the vision of all who brought it to life.
We must resist regressive & cynical moves to rip us out of the convention!

Rights not rescue!

Join Scotland for Decrim & others rallying for sex workers' rights, & against the Nordic Model that puts them at risk of harm, violence, poverty & exploitation.
Driving sex workers underground will not keep them safe!

Last week went by in a whirl, with lots of chat in the Scottish Parliament about the Land Reform Bill.
I also managed to get out & about, standing with the community in Banff against racism & hate, and meeting up with regional organisations & people demanding a #JustTransition.

The Balfour Declaration that established the state of Israel on Palestinian territory was issued 108 years ago tomorrow.
To mark this, come and watch "A State of Passion", in support of the Palestine Cinema Days Festival:

Join me & other Palestine solidarity activists tomorrow from 11am at Home Bargains, Beach Boulevard, Aberdeen.
Home Bargains continues to stock Israeli goods despite the genocide & multiple breaches of international law.
The occupation and genocide must end!

Great to be at the first ever Just Transition Summit in Scotland.

@satwatr.bsky.social is absolutely right: we need urgent action to transform our economy, recognising the entrenched inequalities that exist. Communities & workers are key.

No one must be left behind.

Scotland's drug death record is a tragedy that we need to fix. But that's exactly why I voted against the Right to Addiction Recovery Bill.

Every life lost to drugs is a collective neglect of the real causes of addiction. This Bill wouldn't have addressed those causes (a 🧵)

Recess is a great time to get in the region, & there was lots on in Dundee I could get stuck into!

I also met with @scottishgreens.org colleagues during our conference in Edinburgh, & last weekend stood with the thousands who know Scotland can do better to tackle poverty.

In Aberdeen, 1816 council homes lie empty.
Turnaround time to house someone is 266 days.
Too many children live in poor quality temporary accommodation.

We need action!

Filthy weather did not stop @living-rent.bsky.social Aberdeen delivering a letter demanding action to the Council this evening!

Batons & pepper spray used on protesters AFTER demonstrations.

Over £20 million spent to protect arms companies over those who call out genocide.

SCALP's report says what protestors already know: Palestinian solidarity is systematically oppressed.

The last time a Royal was sent into exile, he (Edward VIII) became Governor of The Bahamas.
I suppose Scotland should be grateful that the king isn’t suggesting such a position for Andrew.
But still … why should Caithness have to put up with him?

We are building a future worth hoping for✊

At party conference, @scottishgreens members debated policy, shared new ideas, made our party better!

But I can't fail to mention what was happening elsewhere in Scotland this weekend (🧵/3)

Why do we keep talking about trans healthcare?

Because of statistics like this.
Because every day waiting, in this world obsessed with harassing trans people, is a battle that many don't survive.

So, we keep talking about it, and keep fighting back against systemic transphobia.

Happy #CommunityTransportWeek!

We celebrated that a little early last week in Parliament. I also spoke against yet more scapegoating of migrants, amplified Challenge Poverty Week, & worked on some more big legislation coming to the chamber. See below 👇

Poverty isn't just having no money at the end of the week.

It's a daily struggle, jumping through hoops to get support.

@scottishgreens.org fight for universal services, like subsidised travel & better childcare, that make a fairer system for everyone #ChallengePovertyWeek

No, laws alone aren't enough to tackle queer- & trans-phobia.

But the @snp.org are just dragging their heels on banning conversion practices.

Letting down every single victim. Allowing literal torture to go on, trying to change something that can't be changed.

@scottishgreens.org were proud to get more orgs paying the Real Living Wage when we were in government.

Because fair working conditions don't just help workers, they help families, which supports local economies, which supports everyone. #ChallengePovertyWeek

How can some bus companies thrive while other are making cuts?

Bringing bus companies into public ownership would mean your ticket fare would go back into the service, instead of lining private pockets. People, over profit.

It works in Edinburgh, and it could work in Dundee.

Animal welfare being close to my heart, it was a pleasure to sponsor the @bluecrossuk.bsky.social exhibition in Parliament🐾

Last week I championed key Scottish Green policies like the Housing Bill, supported the visitor levy, & met with mistreated staff at the University of Dundee✊
