Let people be their true selves, as they know and understand them. Let children explore their identities. Celebrate difference and variety and the incredible spectrum of humanity. The only alternative denies an opportunity to celebrate the joy of human flourishing and is ultimately unspeakably cruel

I’m teaching AP for the first time this year! Last year I taught 4 for the first time so these kids get alll the guinea pig experiences 🙃 it’s going well and the kids are great, but is a LOT to learn! Next year I (hopefully) get to teach both 4 and AP again and I will hopefully do better for both.

“What’s your opinion on SLA?” “Ummm… generally positive?” 😂

like yes the world is constantly on fire, but if you surround yourself with good people who want to help? it is a lot easier to handle. because I just see a lot of good people all the time.

Last time I taught it I wrote alternate ending skits and had them act them out and vote on funniest/most likely/etc. So entertaining. Love the Snapchat idea!

Lol is this the story about the cookie package? I use it with my 3s and it’s a hit every time

Just read this book for the first time ever and I enjoyed this line a lot but also the subtle Princess Bride reference in chapter 1 👏👏

This book looks like one I should read! I’ve only really worked with the PACE model before but would like more education about methods

This feels pretty similar to things I’ve done! In level 3 I introduce past tenses and have a couple worksheets that have reminders of rules/patterns at the top and then sentences from our story where students select which verb fits best. It’s one of our few explicit grammar things and can be useful

I don’t have any special medical excuses to offer, I have no health problems and I’d probably recover in a reasonable amount of time if I caught whatever virus is going around, I just really value not being sick

This is such an important topic and I’m sure it’ll be incredibly helpful for educators, as all your workshops are!!! Any chance you’ll repeat this topic another night? Can’t make it that evening but would love to learn!

closely followed by a student asking hopefully, “are you teaching (next level) next year?” as they look at class registration plans ❤️

Watched it with my AP Spanish class this week and there was much sniffing in the room. Very needed.

Last week we practiced possession in Spanish 2 (girl’s desk -> desk of the girl) via a slideshow of prompts and mini whiteboards and I said “keep track of your points!” They were SO FOCUSED. Then winners at each table relaxed while others put away supplies…everyone REALLY won in language learning 😂
